Subject: Social Security / Railroad Retirement One-time Payment
Description: This bill would have given all Social Security and Railroad Retirement recipients a one-time payment of $250 regardless of income because they did not get a cost-of-living increase this year, adding $14 billion to the deficit. Although a majority of the House voted for it, a two-thirds majority was required.
