Description: Jackson (D-WA) motion to concur in the House amendments in the conference version of the bill setting up a national energy policy, which included standby emergency powers for the President, creation of a national strategic oil reserve, mandatory fuel efficiency standards for automobiles, and continuation of oil price controls. Continuation of price controls will inhibit production of domestic oil while increasing U.S. dependence on the foreign oil cartel.
