Description: Passage of the bill to provide minimum federal standards for the regulation of strip mining and the reclamation of strip-mined lands. Regulations in the bill would cause a reduction in coal production, thus a higher cost for consumers and increased dependence on foreign oil. Reducing production would also cause a decrease in the number of jobs.
